Battery Car Booking at Maa Vaishno Devi: Charges, Rules, and Availability
The journey to Maa Vaishno Devi Bhawan is a sacred and fulfilling experience for millions of devotees. However, for senior citizens, differently-abled persons, and those with health conditions, the trek can be challenging. To ease the pilgrimage, Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board (SMVDSB) provides battery car services between key points along the yatra route.
Battery Car Booking: Charges & Details
Battery cars operate between Adhkuwari and Bhawan, making it convenient for yatris who need assistance during the trek.

Booking Methods: Online & Offline
Online Booking:
- Available 2 months in advance on the Shrine Board Website.
- Works like Tatkal Railway Booking, so slots fill up quickly.
- Keep ID proofs and bank details ready for a hassle-free booking experience.
Offline Booking:
- Starts daily at 7:00 AM at the Bhawan and Adhkuwari Battery Car Shed counters.
- No advance offline booking—tickets are only for the same day.
- Limited slots; availability is on a first-come, first-served basis.
Important Rules for Battery Car Usage
- Only pilgrims aged 60 and above are eligible to book the service in Senior Citizen Service, rest all will use General Category
- Handicapped are given free ride.
- Infants below 5 years travel free, but they must be carried in a guardian's lap.
- Once booked, no modifications are allowed (date/name changes are not entertained).
- Heavy luggage is not permitted on battery cars.
- No private travel agents are authorized to sell battery car tickets—beware of fraud.
- Yatris must report at their allotted time slot for travel.
- Refunds are only issued if operations are canceled due to bad weather or technical reasons.
Cancellation & Refund Policy
- Online bookings must be canceled online; offline tickets cannot be canceled.
- Round trip tickets can only be canceled in full—partial cancellation is not allowed.
- Cancellation must be done at least 2 days before the travel date.
- 70% refund is issued to yatris if canceled within the allowed time.
- Refunds are processed within 15 working days to the original payment mode.
